Maria A Arana

Melancholy Walk

Call out to me

pretend not to sink

together we’ll be

don’t stop to think

Shadows pass

to cut the line

but earth flies past

to make you mine

Wet as the leaves

on sun-dried branches

wet as the trunk of thieves

where your heart lurches

Speak my name

we’ll be as one

by the glass of shame

that fights for the sun

Sun Rock

unusual combination

rock and sky

can’t tell left from right

up or down in waves of heat

sun’s rays tan rocks

scratch surfaces

slip helpful hands of disaster

rock ocean is solid

unending depth

shutters after the pebble

conserve rock

park of death

A View out of Reach

The vastness of it all

Takes my senses

And foils them up gloriously

The depth of it now

Condones the sun’s greetings

At the tip

The shallowness taken

From the range

Cuts at the arc

Of my breaths

Where visions escape

Sun The sun barks our neighbors awake. It scares away the terrified hissing fog then keeps barking  and will not stop.
